Celebrate Our Earth!

During the week between Earth Day (April 22) and Arbor Day (April 30), Please Touch Museum offers our visitors a variety of playful learning opportunities to promote environmental awareness and appreciation.

This programming is part of Please Touch Museum’s Get Up and Grow™ healthy lifestyles initiative. We recognize that fitness, proper nutrition and a sustainable environment are essential for busy bodies to play, learn and grow. Promoting healthy lifestyles is an intrinsic part of our mission, as we encourage children and adults to play and learn together.

Check out the many ways you can celebrate our Earth at Please Touch Museum:

Note: Times and locations vary. Please check the “Today’s Fun” signs for details.

Recycled Print Making
Join us daily in the Program Room for art activities using donated fabric samples and recycled printing tools. Make Window Blocks with Recycled Materials, and try out the Eco Town Play Table.

Story Castle Storytimes
Join us for a reading of I Love Our Earth and receive a copy of our "Creative Re-Use and Play for Everyday" booklet with ideas on how youcan be "green" while playing with your child and having fun! On Earth Day (April 22) visitors will receive Earth Day Kits donated by Plan Toys during story times (while supplies last).

Michael Recycles Program
On Saturday, April 24 students from our ACES teen mentoring program will tie in literacy and art with the book Michael Recycles. ACES students will help visitors "decorate the museum" as they create collages on durable cardboard Elia® chairs that will be used and displayed in front of the Kids Store.

Creative Dramatics Playtime: Camping Kids
Visitors are invited to take a trip to the great outdoors without leaving the museum! Campers can enjoy a variety of pretend play activities centered on camping, hiking, and exploring nature. Come look for insects, climb inside a tent, roast marshmallows around a campfire or snuggle into a sleeping bag for a story time.

Kooky Cooks Recycling Show
Join the silly Chefs Charlene, Sean and Sheldon as they discover how to renew, reuse and remake using everyday household items, a little imagination, a very special cooking pot and lot of laughs!

Wordsworth and Corny the Acorn Puppet Strolling Fun
The newest member of our Puppet Pal family, Wordsworth, is a loveable bookworm who loves to burrow into a good story. Cornelius (Corny) the Acorn is a little nutty, but a lot of fun. Corny is often seen in the Exploring Trees: Inside and Out exhibit, making sure visitors are doing "Oak-Kay" while they play and learn about trees and nature.

Poet's Corner
Nature Poems from Bill Martin's Anthology and Shel Silverstein will be featured in our Poet's Corner.

Music Programming
Our special music programming includes End of the Day Parades with Recycled Instruments at 4:45 p.m. every day.
